About Pualilia

With a degree in environmental studies from UC Santa Cruz, and a lifetime of exploring art mediums, I have combined both of my passions into creating beautiful functional earth friendly art that is inspired by nature and hopefully inspires you! I create pottery, clothing, jewelry, ojos de dios, hanging art made from found objects, block prints, and love photography. I also offer personalized creative & wellness garden services that help people reconnect with nature, learn gardening, and create beautiful, healing plant spaces. As a mama and small business owner, I am deeply grateful for the support I receive in pursuing my passion of art and sharing with others the importance of being conscious about our choices we make as consumers. I am an Earth Sign, and an Earth Day baby (well day after Earth Day), so I naturally am very passionate about everything aina. I love gardening and plants, and am an avid traveler. Mahalo nui for your support in making my dreams and passions come alive <3

Mission

My mission with Pua Aina is to encourage others to be aware of how their consumer choices affect our planet by creating beautiful wearable art that is eco-conscious, ethical, and made of natural materials that benefit our bodies as well as the earth.

Supporting Pua Aina means that you are not only supporting my small woman-owned business, you are also supporting other small woman-owned businesses that I use to outsource my designs, as well as supporting the environment through the natural materials that I choose to use, including my packaging.

Natural

Materials

Choosing Natural Materials are not only better for the earth, but they are also better for our bodies! Conventional farming is one of the planet's biggest sources of environmental degredation through the use of irresponsible watering practices, chemicals, and tilling. Although organic cotton is still a farmed product, it's cultivation uses less water and pestcides. Linen is natually pest-resistant and uses less water and pesticides.

Materials and the affect on our bodies: Our skin is our largest organ and what we wear is absorbed through our skin. Wearing natural fibers can actually have an impact on your body too beyond just the exposure to chemicals. Our bodies are electrical by nature, and different fabrics can actually affect our bodies through the frequencies they give off, and can either give and heal, or, take away energy from our body. A healthy human body registers a frequency of 100, but a very diseased body has a frequency of 15. Organic Cotton has a frequency of about 100, pretty much in tune with the human body. Linen has a frequency of 5000 and is considered a "healing fabric" that actually assists the body in healing and repairing. In contrast, polyester and rayon have a frequency of 15.
